Everything you need to keep the books

Bookkeeping, payroll and GST/HST, made for Canadian small businesses. Every feature on this page is built and working today.

Bookkeeping

Proper double-entry books, without needing to be an accountant to keep them.

Chart of accounts and general journal

Set up the accounts you need and record any entry in the general journal.

Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet

See how the business is doing, for any period.

Bank and credit card reconciliation

Check your books against each monthly statement, line by line.

GIFI codes for the T2

Every account carries a GIFI code, and the GIFI report gives your accountant or tax software what the corporate tax return needs.

The program doesn’t file the T2 itself.

Purchases and bills

Keep track of what you owe and pay it on time.

Vendors, bills and credit notes

Enter bills and credit notes, pay them, and see who you owe with the payables aging report.

Cheque printing

Print cheques on standard Canadian laser cheques.

Bills you paid personally

Paid a business bill with your own card? The program tracks what the business owes you and records paying you back.

AI invoice scanning

Take a photo of a supplier’s invoice, or upload it, and it’s read into a draft bill for you to check. Uses your business’s own Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini account.

Sales and invoicing

Send invoices and get paid faster.

Customers, invoices and payments

Invoice your customers and record the payments you receive.

Online card payments with Stripe

Each invoice gets a “Pay online” link and QR code. Payments are recorded automatically, along with Stripe’s fee.

Inventory

For businesses that buy goods to resell.

Items for resale

Keep a list of the items you buy and sell, and see purchases by item.

Year-end stock counts

Record your count at year end so your books show what’s on the shelves.

Payroll

Pay your employees correctly and have the CRA figures ready.

Deductions for each pay

CPP, CPP2, EI, and federal and provincial income tax, worked out for you.

Vacation pay and pay stubs

Track vacation pay and print a pay stub for each employee.

Monthly remittances

A summary of what to send the CRA each month.

T4 and ROE worksheets

The figures to enter in the CRA’s and Service Canada’s online forms.

Payroll covers Nova Scotia today. It’s built to add other provinces, and more are coming.

GST/HST

Your return’s figures, worked out from your books.

Figures for every return period

Monthly, quarterly or annual, laid out with the CRA’s line numbers.

Filed, paid or refunded

Mark each return filed and record the payment or refund.

You file the return on the CRA’s site using the figures the program gives you.

And the things that make it easy to live with

Your books on your computer

Each business’s books are a file on your PC or Mac. Nothing is sent to the cloud.

Built-in backups

Keep copies on a USB drive or in a cloud folder of your choice, such as OneDrive.

Turn features on or off

Payroll, invoicing, inventory and more can be switched on or off for each business.

Import from QuickBooks Online

Bring over accounts, vendors, employees, balances and unpaid bills as your starting point.

Built-in help

Step-by-step guides inside the program.

Automatic updates

The program checks for new versions when it starts and offers to install them.

What it doesn’t do (yet)

  • • It’s not a cloud service: there’s no web or phone app, and one person works in a business’s books at a time.
  • • No bank feeds. You enter transactions and reconcile against your statements.
  • • Returns aren’t filed electronically from the program; it gives you the figures to file on the CRA’s site.
  • • GST/HST uses the regular method, not the Quick Method. Payroll is Nova Scotia only for now.

Try it with a sample store's books.

The demo is free, with no time limit and no sign-up. Explore a year of a made-up store's books, then add up to 20 entries of your own.
